Had my post-op follow-up visit with the Doctor earlier today, happily they did remove the staples, and the Doctor was happy with how I was doing.

But there was one point of concern, at one place along the incision it has not closed up there is a ‘pocket’ there. If it does not heal up by the next follow-up visit in three weeks it will need surgery.

I’m hoping and praying that it does heal and close up, I really really don’t want to have more surgery done after recovering this much from the last one.

As for the bills, the paperwork for getting help is done, but it’s going to be +45 days before we know anything.

Still so far so good, just have to take it easy and not overdo, and keep things clean and dry and have faith.

Just a brief update on how I’m doing recovering from my appendicitis / surgery.

Generally I’m feeling better and more normal, but I still have to be careful and watch what I do, it’s going to be at least another couple of months with just weight carrying limits as I continue to heal.

It’s amazing the small things you take for granted, like such as I would enjoy a nice long shower. But I don’t think I can keep the incision fully protected, so a full shower will have to wait for a while.

I have a appointment this Wednesday, when I should get the staples removed, and hopefully the doctor will have good news that everything is doing just great.

But in all this there is some sad news, the bills are coming in, we went in the ER telling them my financial situation of not having a job / work in a long time.

We were given paper work for getting help, and heaven willing, we will have favor and get help. As so far the bills top $25k, all for a non-elective life saving emergency surgery.

It’s a shame that in what is commonly referred as a first world nation, that such medial emergencies can be so financially devastating for some people.

Last Thursday I posted that I that I have kidney stones, the next day want to be sure we headed off the UAMS ER.

After getting in and talking with a Doctor they were as confused as we were, so a CT scan was ordered.

Turns out I had a appendicitis, they planned to go in with the scope and all that get it out. Only it had burst, had a puss pocket, part of it has died.So they had to open me up and clean things out. All in all, as bad as it was, it could have been worse.

All because the appendix was not where is should have been, it was twisted up and around the colon, so the symptoms never presented completely right, and so we wait longer than we should have.

Got home yesterday, but this is the first time I could set down at the computer and do anything, and this is going to talk a  few months to recover from.

Thankfully I have a Family for support.

One pass of a tricoder i would know, and a quick visit to the doctor and all would be fix. 🙂

oh, the things you think of when your not feeling well.
